Habermas 1136 Briefcase with Brass Marcellino Latch
The 1136 is one of my older styles, now filed under the Habermas name. It is a single-gusset flap briefcase in red-brown leather with a brass Marcellino latch at the front and a long adjustable shoulder strap.
The strap and the front
The strap carries a padded center section, and the brass hardware at both ends is visible in the first photograph. The strap edges are stitched in a lighter thread than the leather, which makes the line of the hand stitching easy to follow. The handle on top is wrapped in the same leather as the body.

In the sun
The sunlit photographs were taken on a wooden floor beside an old carved cabinet. Low light turns the leather from deep red-brown to a bright orange-red, and the brass latch picks up the same light. The last photograph is a close look at the strap fittings: rivets, stitching and buckles.
