Pascal 2301

Pascal 2301 has a horse for a handle.

It is cast in metal, with a green patina that gathers in the mane and the legs, and it stands on the lid of the case on four small feet. A strip of tan leather runs along its back, so the animal is part sculpture and part strap. You pick the case up by the horse.

A plain black case with a sculpted animal standing on it is an odd pairing, and the close-up photograph leans into it. The horse is seen from the side with its neck stretched forward and the tan strip crossing its back.

The rest is built to stay out of its way. The body is black. The gusset and the two straps on the front are a natural tan, and each strap ends in a brass hook latch. The tan wraps the case at the sides, where it shows from the back and the side views.

The last photograph shows a table covered with cast handles of other shapes and animals, with the finished case at the back.
