Newton 2015

Newton 2015 is black outside and red inside.

The red is a saturated, suede-textured red, and it turns up everywhere you look once the case is open: the inside of the flap, the lining of the body, a pocket sleeve built into the wall. From the front it is invisible. A glimpse shows along the side, where the flap lifts away from the body.

On the face there is a brass hook with a thin chain, hung from a stitched black tab. The handle on top is a single narrow strip of black leather. Brass D-rings hold the strap on each side.

I photographed the strap on its own and in pieces. It is black on the outside and red on the underside, with a row of brass-ringed holes and a brass buckle. Another photograph lays out every loose part of the case on a white background: the strap, the short tabs, a small loop and the flap lining.

The red pieces match the color of the lining.
