McCarty 1553

McCarty 1553 is black on the outside and pale tan on the inside.

The front carries a silver-toned hook on a stitched tab and nothing more. The flap is wide and softly rounded, and the leather has the slight shifting sheen that black leather gets under studio lights. A short handle sits on top, fixed to the case through silver rings.

Set the case on its side and the construction opens up. The body is made of stacked sections, one layered against the next, with the flap closing over all of them. The photograph taken from the end shows those layers clearly.

The interior is the surprise. Inside, the lining is a pale tan, and the sections are fitted with dividers, including a row of narrow slots along one wall. In that photograph the case lies on its side with the flap hanging open.
