McCarty 1535

McCarty 1535 is black leather with silver hardware and a paper tag still hanging inside.

The tag reads Hermann Oak Leather Co., the tannery that supplied the hide. I left it in the photographs on purpose. Most of what goes into a case like this ends up where nobody looks, and a label from the tannery is the one piece of its history that survives the cutting and stitching.

Outside, a silver-toned hook sits on a stitched tab at the center of the front, with a small chain beside it. The flap is rounded and drops over the body. One leather handle rides on top.

On the side, a silver D-ring is fixed into the gusset, and the panel beneath it curves as it meets the flap. Another photograph looks inside, where two rivets show on the underside of the flap.
