Habermas 2074 in Brown UK English Bridle Leather

Brown on the outside, dark green on the inside. The Habermas 2074 is cut from UK English bridle leather and lined in dark green Italian calf suede, so a plain, upright case opens onto a deep color.

UK English bridle leather

The outside is brown UK English bridle leather. The page on leather choice explains why I work in it, and the journal article what is English bridle leather covers how it is made. For a comparison with the heavier harness leather, see bridle versus harness leather.

Dark green suede

Inside, the lining is dark green Italian calf suede. The interior edges are wrapped in leather as well, so even the parts of the bag you only see when it is open are finished by hand. The page on suede lining describes the material.

Pockets made for the order

The inside pockets are normally customized. On a bespoke order they are laid out to hold whatever the client needs the bag to carry.

Marcellino latches

The outside carries my Marcellino latches, a signature style, and they are wrapped in leather too. The Marcellino latch page walks through how they are built.

Stitched and painted by hand

Every seam is hand saddle stitched. The art of hand stitching page and the journal article on the saddle stitch explain why that stitch holds. The outside edges are painted by hand with latex paint.

Over the shoulder or crossbody

An adjustable shoulder strap comes with the bag, so it can hang over the shoulder or cross the body. The leather care page and the journal article on how to care for a bridle leather briefcase cover keeping it in shape.
