Paine 1011
The Thomas Paine is thin, black and matte, and it wraps itself in straps.
The video above shows the version in black matte bridle leather with brass hardware. It is a single-section case, built slim on purpose, with a combination lock on the front and a pair of wrap-around straps that run over the flap and under the base. The straps are double-lined, and there is enough room under them to slide in a newspaper or a sweater. A flat handle is fixed to the top, and rings on the sides take a shoulder strap.
This number was photographed twice. One set shows the lock and buckles in a silver-toned metal, the other in brass, with a gold-colored lock disc set into a stitched leather ring. The brass set shows the whole kit at once, with the shoulder strap coming off the side rings.
The matte finish is the point of the case. The leather takes the light softly, and the stitching, the strap keepers and the rivets are the only things that catch it.
The close-up on the lock shows the round dial plate with a latch above it, and a snap tab beside it. The photograph of the open case shows a black interior.
