Paine 1010
Paine 1010 is dark green English bridle leather with palladium hardware.
The green is deep enough to pass for black in a dim room. Under the studio lights it opens up, and the highlights on the flap show a bottle-glass green. Cream thread runs along every seam and around every strap keeper, which turns the construction into a drawing: you can read where each piece starts and stops.
Two straps cross the flap and buckle at the front, each with a palladium buckle. Between them sits a round lock plate with a rectangular latch above it, ringed with a line of hand stitching. The close-up photograph is the place to look at it. Palladium is a cool, silvery metal, and against the dark leather it reads almost white.
A handle rises from the top. The shoulder strap lies on the ground beside the case in one photograph, matching the body in color and stitched along both edges.
In the open-flap photograph the inside of the flap is the same green as the outside, and the lock plate sits on the front of the body.
