m10: Black and Tan, Two Straps

Two colors, one case, and a sunburst electric guitar behind it in the shop. That is how m10 got photographed.

Black against tan

The body is black English bridle leather. The straps, the gussets and the trim are London tan, and the straps are lined in red. A round silver lock with a medallion closes the front. Inside, the lining is red Italian calf suede and a tan, velvety sheepskin suede.

Weight

I made it in October 2023 from thick bridle leather and suede, and you feel that in your hand. It measures 11 x 8 x 4 inches, with two 2 inch gussets, two buckle straps and a suede-lined shoulder strap. Everything is hand saddle stitched.

Inside

The inside is a golden tan suede with red edges.

In the shop

On the paisley bedspread next to the guitar, in front of the Briefcase Maker flag, with a red-lined strap loose beside it.

How it is made

The suede is real: see the suede lining page for why I use it instead of microsuede, and the care page for how to look after it.

The bridle leather is described on my leather page, and the journal explains it in What English Bridle Leather Actually Is, and Why Briefcases Are Cut From It.

The seams are hand stitched; see The Saddle Stitch Explained: Hand-Sewing Leather Step by Step for the method.
