McCarty 1552
McCarty 1552 is the McCarty with the stitching turned up.
The leather is black, and the thread is a pale tan that runs the full outline of the flap and the body. Each stitch sits in a straight line and reads like a drawn border around the case. Look at it from across a room and it is a line drawing.
The closure has a cover. A half-round piece of black leather, stitched down along its curve and held with a single brass stud, sits over the area around the brass hook. Lift it and the hook and its tab are underneath, and the open-flap photograph shows both.
The handle on top is a stitched strip of leather, edged in the same pale thread and joined to the case through a brass ring. A second brass ring sits on the side, ready for a strap.
Most of the photographs here are shot close, so the thread and the brass fill the frame.
